Eghosa Anglican Grammar School has emerged winner of the maiden edition of the Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation debate competition amongst secondary schools in Egor local government.
, Dr. Joan Enabulele who announced the winning school on behalf of the panel of judges said Eghosa Anglican emerged winner of the debate contest by scoring a total of 78.43 percent while Baptist High School came second with 77.69 percent
The debate competition which was contested by Seven (7) Secondary Schools in Egor Local Government Council took place at the event hall of the council.
The topic meant to debate on was , “Should Secondary School Students share in the responsibility of Edo State development, if not why? had four Secondary Schools speak for and three against.’
Speaking shortly after the announcement of the winner ,the lead speaker of Eghosa Anglican Grammar School, Miss Isabella Okotie expressed gratitude to Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation for organizing such an intellectual competition for them.
She stressed that the competition has boosted her confidence being her first appearance and her school would go back and get prepared for the Senatorial contest.She also appreciated her teachers and colleagues who collaborated to Marshall out their points.
Speaking earlier, Dr Osahon Enabulele noted that the country is going through leadership challenges with a drift on the main issues that relates with the well-being of the people.
He decried the high rate of disconnection between leaders and the future generation as the reason his foundation is poised to fill up the gap through reintegrating Secondary schools students by building their leadership capacities and prepare them for the future.
“Part of our objective is to reignite your intellectual capacity and prepare you to carry out research and build your analytical capacity, then connect you with the issue of the day and make you a solution provider.”
Also speaking, the Chairman, board of trustees of Dr. Osahon Enabulele Foundation, Prof. Commended members of the organizing committee who planned the debate competition for the Secondary Schools in Egor LGA.
He further appreciated the schools that participated in the competition and encouraged the teenagers to take what they have learnt seriously. He stressed that the younger ones can contribute their quota in the state development by carrying out their civic responsibility.
The Secondary schools who participated in the debate contest were Edo Boys High School, Baptist High School, Eghosa Anglican Grammar School, Springfield Secondary School,Asoro Grammar School, FAAC and Unified Secondary School .
