Edo 2024: Crisis rocks NNPP , aggrieved Governorship Aspirant , Okoeguale calls for rerun, cancellation

As Political Parties joggle to present Candidates ahead of the September 21st Governorship election, crisis seems to be rocking some of the political Parties with New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) having a larger share.

One of the defeated Guber aspirant,  has Peter Okoeguale called on the National leadership of the Party to nullified the earlier conducted party primary held on Saturday in Benin City which produced Pastor Azehme Azena as Candidate.

Mr Peter Okoeguale who is Aggrieved over the outcome of the primary in NNPP claimed that Pastor Azehme’s entry into the party in February 5th turned the leadership of the Party into money mongers and similarly hijacked the process to the Primary Election.

He claimed to have deligently helped to build the structure of the Party from Ward level to State empowering Women ,Youths and Party officials.

Mr Peter alleged that delegates from Edo South Senatorial District, particularly Oredo were denied access to vote during the Primary Election as the light at the venue kept going off.

He further said that Pastor Azehme Azena along with the Party State Chairman fred O. threw away the submitted list approved delegates and replaced it with names of Azena Azehme’s church members who voted as delegates in the primary election.

“I totally disagree with the result announced by the Chairman of the electoral Committee , Senator Suleiman Abdulraham, as the outcome of our primary election, what we had was a rape of democracy”

“I call for a re run or total cancellation of the out come of the primary election, because what we were told is that 560 delegates were to participate in the primary election but was surprised to see 361 voted” what happened to the others? I need the leadership of my party to revisit the election and ensure the right thing is done”.

Also Speaking, the Oredo LGA Chairman, Bishop Adori described the primary election as a kangaroo and a mockery to democracy

‘The list we submitted was altered, they replaced the list with names of Azena Church members and drove the real delegates away, infact, there was no Election, and if nothing is done, NNPP will be dead in Edo State” he said

Also responding, the Orionhwnon Ward 12 LGA Chairman demand that the Edo South election be re conducted or total cancellation as the State Chairman collected money from Azena and replaced the list with names of church members.
