Asue Ighodalo’s popularity receives more boost…..as APC Media Scribe, John Mayaki pledges support, says Edo interest supercedes Party Supremacy

A Chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC), John Mayeki has declared his unalloyed support to the Candidate of People Democratic Party, Asue Ighodalo in the forthcoming Governorship election scheduled for September 21st, 2024.

John Mayaki stated this in a roundtable discussion with Newsmen at the Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin City.

He stressed that he remains a member of All Progressive Congress but will mobilize his supporters to vote for Asue Ighodalo of the People Democratic Party in the September .

According to Mayaki, the Candidate of his party,  lacks what it takes to advance the development of Edo State .

*History will not be fair to me if I choose to support incompetence. The Candidate of my party will not be able to lead Edo State as he is 20years backward. ”

“As it stands , State supremacy is higher than Party supremacy, so I have decided to support someone whom I am convinced will be able to develop our State for the good of everyone “.

He further addded that his support for Asue Ighodalo remains a decision he personally took on the basis of his pursuit for good governance in the state.

” Despite my support for Asue, Ighodalo, I will remain very loyal to my party and Mr. President, Ahmed TINUBU. My desicion to support opposition Candidate and still remains in my Party is not strange as Mr President appreciated the present Minister of FCT , Nyesome Weike for supporting him despite being a member of PDP”.

Speaking during the interaction, the Chairman of NUJ , Comrade Festus Alenkhe reiterated the position if the union on Political issues.

He said that, members of the NUJ remains apolitical and as such, will only report what was said without adding their own opinion to the information.
