The reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu has called on the Inspector General of Police to hold the State Vigilantes and the PUWOV responsible for killing of Police officer on uniform which occured recently at the Benin Airport.
Shaibu stated this while addressing Newsmen shortly after his thanksgiving Service at St Paul Catholic Church,Benin City over his victory at the court which ordered his reinstatement in office as deputy governor.
Recall, there was mayhem recently at the Benin Airport when gunmen attacked shaibu’s convoy which led to the death of a uniform policeman.
Shaibu accompanied by supporters was said to resume office in line with the judgement of federal high court which ordered his reinstatement.
He noted that the vigilantes in a bid to stop him from entering into the city started shooting sporadically which killed one of the Police officer .
According to him, the IGP should investigate and fish out all those who were used to disrupt Peace in the state.
” PDP is trying to cover up, this one, they cannot cover up, not after killing a Police officer, All of them must be picked up, I mean Vigilantes and members of PUWOV as far as this killing is concerned.
Speaking further, he described those who sponsored his impeachment as anti-Democracy and charged Edo People to vote them out of office for trying to disrupt a democratic system which was fought for by heroes of this country.
In the mood of Thanksgiving, he thanked God for the early judgement Which according to him went contrary to the expectation of the State Government.
” They illegally impeached me and were boasting that before the Court will give verdict, this tenure would have been over but I keep reminding God of his Mercies. ”
“I prayed to God to prove himself and I keep hearing, be specific with your requests. I told him, I want the court to give this judgement in July, hear and behold, I went to court and the judge said he is delivering judgement, I couldn’t hold my emotions anymore. Luckily, Court nullified the impeachment, in fact, I was overwhelmed “.
” I am thanking God today because he has shown to me that he answered prayers. I have been serving him for years in truth and spirit and he has shown to me that he did not forsake me.”
‘ I am calling on everybody to hold on to God , no matter your sin as a human being, if you trust him wholeheartedly, he will put your enemies to shame”.
He however called on the Youths to resist evil politicians from being used as thugs .
He added that Edo People should join hands and vote out bad government turning the state into war zone.
