The Managing Director of Ministry of Environment, Mr. Lucky Enehita Inegbeñehi has appealed to People of Edo State to clean up their surroundings and clear their drainages ahead of the monthly sanitation coming up very soon.
Mr. Inegbeñehi who said his ministry is working hard to attain the vision of Governor Monday Okpebholo to make the State the healthiest and the cleanest in Nigeria, revealed that all machineries have been put in place to achieve the goal.
Mr. Inegbeñehi stated this in his office while addressing Newsmen recently in Benin City.
According to him, there has been an ongoing distilling of drainages across the state with stationed pay- loaders to evacuate all waste materials.
Speaking further, Mr. Inegbeñehi further appealed to citizens living in areas they are unable to reach, to endeavor to clear up their drainages and send in papers to the office for immediate evacuation.
“We are appealing to our people to àlso help in distilling the drainages in front of their business places and houses , when they are through, they can send in their papers to the offices and the waste materials would be evacuated”.
“We have been able to distilled and evacuate the drainages at second east circular road, Plymouth, Oregbeni and Oba Market respectively. Distilling of drinages is currently going on in Edo Central and very soon, we will be heading to Edo North”
Speaking on the cost of collecting waste materials per household by waste collectors, Mr. Inegbeñehi stressed that the 2,000 naira per month would be reviewed due to the high cost of living to enable operator’s carry out their work effectively and efficient.
On the upcoming monthly sanitation, Mr. Inegbeñehi also appealed to Edo People to ensure they comply with the 7am to 10am operation clean your environment to avoid being apprehended.
He said, 19 mobile courts with each stationed at one LGA and one at the City center would be provided for with three team of taskforce to monitor activities within the three zones and enforce compliance.
“With all of these in place, I am appealing to all Edo Citizens to comply to our operation clean your environment ànd avoid facing prosecution at the end of the day”.
