The Labour Party has urged INEC to immediately include their candidate’s name in the list of contestants for the Edo Central Senatorial bye-election scheduled for August 16.

The campaign team for Hon. Paul Omo Okojie expressed concerns about INEC’s alleged attempts to undermine their chances in the August 16 election

. They cited issues with voter register release, inadequate voter sensitization, and selective recognition of parties and candidates.

According to a press statement signed by Mr. Isaac Olamikan, the media director of Hon. Paul Okojie’s campaign organization, the party’s name was noticeably missing from the list released by INEC.

The statement asserts that the Labour Party has previously conducted primary elections successfully and had followed all necessary procedures for the current candidate, Hon. Paul Okojie, to emerge as their representative for the Edo Central Senatorial bye-election.

Olamikan described INEC’s actions as a threat to democracy and alleged that some saboteurs within INEC, in collusion with ungrateful impostors, were behind the move to undermine their chances in the election .

“These distractions is being sponsored by some saboteurs within INEC in conivance with some un gruntled imposters and we will not sit idle while the will of the people is tampered with,” the campaign warned.
