100 Indigents of Edo State would be benefiting from free breast, prostrate cancer and general screening of the body at the center for disease control at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital ( UBTH).
The free screening exercise which commenced today, Friday 27th was sponsored by ARABELLA DECKS branch of National Association of SEA DOGs in conjunction with Holland, Canada branch and UBTH.
Speaking to newsmen, the coordinator of ARABELLA DECKS, Comrade Mowang Eddie George disclosed that due to the high prevalence of Cancer, the body resolved to collaborate with UBTH to provide free screening for members of the public.
According to him, instead of Cancer Patients dying of the ailment , they can survive it,if detected early and given the appropriate treatment .
He stressed that the free screaming excerise was initiated by members of ARABELLA DECKS to give back to the society.
” The DECKS includes Lagos , Canada and Holland collaborated with ARABELLA DECKS to sponsor the screening exercise for 100 indigents and is lasting for one month”.
So I call on the general public to be part of these 100 persons and get themselves screened “.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Idia Ize Iyamu,, Dr. Adebola Ozi commended members of ARABELLA DECKS of National SEA DOGs for taken the burden of the cost of screening from participants of the excerise.
She expressed the excitement of the management over the gesture and seized the opportunity to call on other well meaning organizations to emulate the NSD to help in the fight against Cancer.
On her part, the Assistant coordinator of Center for Disease Control, Dr. Mrs. Opkara said the screening is not limited to Cancer alone but includes Hipatitis B and C,HIV, Hypertension, cholesterol, glaucoma and palpsmell for the female
Etc.
She said the importance of early detection of Cancer can not be overemphasized.
She further cmended MSA for their humanitarian contributions in the fight against Cancer
One of the participants who benefited from the free screening, Mrs
Ijeamaka Helen explained her ordeal in trying to carryout screening until she came across the NSD free screening,
” I have been trying to do some of the screening but unable to do it. I was told that to come back by next month to do one of the test but luckily I saw the banner of the NSD and I participated, in fact, May God bless them richly”.
Another participant, Mrs Regina George who participated in the screening exercise commended the NSD for sponsoring the free screening.
She added that God Almighty will continue to bless them abundantly.
