A leading aspirant for the Owan East Constituency seat in the Edo State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Jeffrey Iriabekhai, is poised to make a strong impact at the party’s forthcoming primaries.

Iriabekhai, an indigene of Iruoke in the Ivbimion Clan of Owan East Local Government Area, was among the earliest aspirants to formally declare his intention.

Political observers interpret this early declaration as a calculated strategy aimed at consolidating grassroots support ahead of the primaries.

He is expected to face stiff competition, including the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, who is reportedly seeking a third term in office.

Positioning himself as a candidate with a difference, Iriabekhai brings a strong background in security architecture.

He has emphasized his readiness to translate this expertise into effective legislation and actionable policy frameworks that will support the Edo State Government in addressing the growing challenge of insecurity across the state.

Describing himself as part of a new generation of legislators driven by purpose rather than personal ambition, Iriabekhai insists he has both the experience and capacity to deliver meaningful representation.

Born into the respected Ohiolei Iriabekhai family of Iruoke—renowned for excellence—he has consistently advocated for the opportunity to deploy his legislative experience toward tackling insecurity and banditry in Owan East, Edo North Senatorial District, and Edo State at large.

During his declaration, the youthful aspirant highlighted his energy, vision, and commitment to people-centered representation, qualities he believes will translate into tangible legislative outcomes.

He also appealed to the leadership of the APC to grant him the party’s ticket, assuring that his candidacy would enhance the party’s chances in the general elections.

The APC primaries, which will determine the party’s candidates nationwide, are scheduled to hold later this month.
