The Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta has protested against some unscrupulous members of All Progressive Congress in Bayelsa who are fighting against the Candidacy of Timipre Sylva ahead of the September Governorship Election.
The Peace group expressed dissatisfaction on the level of distractions these few persons are causing within their own party, selling a wrong narrative to Bayelsa ahead of the Election.
Protesting in Bayelsa, they advised these Persons to stay off and allow the APC Governorship Candidate, Timipre Sylva to focus on his campaign in other to prepare adequately to win the election for his party in the state.
Speaking during the protest, the National President of RPIND, Comrade Toluwa Mulade disclosed that the constitution is clear on who is qualified to contest the Governorship Election.
According to him, Timipre Sylva understand the Nigeria Constitution very well to the point that an individual is only allowed to occupy a position of four years of two tenures and can not pick the Governorship ticket if he had govern as Governor of Bayelsa State for two terms.
He advised members of the Party to join hands and support Timipre Sylva because there is a golden opportunity they can not afford to miss with Timipre Sylva.
” Timipre Sylva is a Man who has distinguished himself over the years and we are solidarizing with his Governorship ticket because he is a transformer and a Peace Ambassador. We want all Bayelsans to throw their support behind him as he has what it takes to transform the State into Eldorado”. He said.
“For those who are fanning this ember, we are calling on them to desist as their actions is tantermount to antidemocratic “.
Speaking in the same vein, the Publicity Secretary, Peter German noted that with Timipre Sylva, Bayelsa State will be transformed from the backward position it occupies presently to a Frontline position.
He however called on Indigenes and non indigenes in Bayelsa to ensure they catch up with this life time opportunity to vote Timipre Sylva in the upcoming election.
