The All Progressive Congress (APC), has elected 5,184 ward executive officers in 192, wards across Edo State
This was disclosed by the Chairman, Ward and Local government Congresses while addressing newsmen in the secretariat of APC in Benin City.
According to the Chairman of the committee, hon. Kabiru, Ajana, the Ward Congress was 99.9%% peaceful and successful
He emphasized that the hitchfree nature of the Ward Congress clearly shows the leadership benevolence of Governor Monday Okpebholo and the State Party Chairman in the state.
“There was no protest in the 192 wards which indicates that the party faithfuls are well pleased with the process that lead to the outcome of the Congress”.
“This ward Congress has laid the foundation and had confirmed the status of APC that it is a winning party and come 2027, Edo will be APC again”.
Speaking earlier, the State Party Chairman, Emperor Tenebe described the concluded Ward Congress as a watershed in the political evolution of Edo State.
He said the successful conduct of the Ward Congress is a reaffirmation of the collective commitment to Unity Cohesion, transparency and inclusivity.
” The orderly and rancour-free conduct of our ward Congresses is clear evidence that we are institutionalizing internal democracy in it’s truest form”.
He ascribed the achievement to every committed member of the party and stressed that it is an affirmation of the Unity and discipline that exist in the party.
He congratulated the elected Ward officers and charged them to uphold the sacred duty of deepening party structures at the grassroots by mobilizing the people and ensuring that the policies and program of the party resonates at the grassroots.
” You must drive Party engagement actively within your wards, you must foster Unity, build consensus, and expand our membership base, above all, you must ensure that the harmony we currently enjoy is sustained and strengthened.”
He added that elections are the lifeblood of political parties therefore, it is pertinent for the Party to participate in the forthcoming elections in manner that reflects the Party values, discipline, Unity and strategic organizations.
Present at the event were members of the APC State Working Committee (SWC) and team members of the Ward, Local government Congresses.
