BIU Honours Jimoh Abiodun Best Lecturer Of The Year…..As Journalists, Professors, Friends Showers Encomium On Him

University Professor, lecturers and friends have congratulated Mr. Abiodun Jimoh on his award of excellence as Lecturer of the Year in the Department of International Studies and Diplomacy (ISD), Benson Idahosa University (BIU) Benin-City, Edo State.

Also congratulating the award winner were members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) from Edo, Oyo and Lagos State Council as well as coursemates in the university and friends.

The award was presented to him by the Executives of the International Studies and Diplomacy Students Association (INDISA) for his commitment and simplicity as well as cordial relationship with students at all levels.

Mr. Jimoh, an Assistant Lecturer in ISD department, Faculty of Arts and Education (FAE) joined the work force of the Benin-based Benson Idahosa University in 2021/2022 academic session.

He graduated from the University in the 2013/2014 academic session with First Class Honours Degree in ISD while he proceeded to University of Benin (UNIBEN), Ugbowo campus, Benin-City, Edo State for his Master’s Degree in History.

On his verified Facebook page and WhatsApp, congratulatory messages from different individuals filled the page to celebrate the journalist turned lecturer for his accomplishment in the academic profession.

Among the well wishers was Professor Eddie Erhagbe, fmr Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Benin (UNIBEN), one of his lecturers at the undergraduate and post-graduate level wrote: “Congratulations, wishing you greater accomplishment and excellent performance in the years ahead,”

In the same vein, Dr Thaddeus Ityonzughul, Ag. Head, Department of ISD, BIU congratulated by written: “Congratulations on your award my brother. May God Almighty continue to empower you to do more. Cheers.”

Mrs. Preye Adekoya, his fmr. lecturer could not hide her feelings as she wrote: “Congratulations brother, well deserved.”

Dr. Adegoke Akeem Rauf from Department of Mass Communication, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State congratulated the award winner as he wrote: “Congratulations. More balms to your arms.”

In the same vein, BIU students were not left out of the greetings. Mamawei Wilberforce Amaegbe, a level 200 student in his message said” “Congratulations sir. Well deserved for your commitment and dedication.”

Favour Idahosa, a year 4th part time student on his part wrote congratulations daddy, while Tikoni Wuko, a final year students said: “Congrats best lecturer.”

Other students that sent their greetings included Becky Asaba, 400 level; Grace Jones, 200 level, Patrick Agada, year one part time student and amongst.

Meanwhile, from the pen profession were his former bosses at Nigerian Tribune newspaper, Ibadan, Mr. Ganiyu Salman, Oladipupo Ogunsola; Dapo Falade, and Tosin Omojola who is now the Media Officer 3SC FC Ibadan.

Salman in his message wrote:” Congratulations my brother, wish you many more glorious accomplishments.” While Ogunsola on his part stated: “Abbey, this is great. We are proud of you. Way forward.”

Also congratulating him were journalists from Edo State. They were Momoh Idris of BusinessDay newspaper, Dada Ayokhai, fmr. CPS to EDHA Speaker; Comrade Titus Akhigbe, fmr Secretary of NUJ.

Others were Comrade Lucky Isibor, fmr. Treasurer of NUJ; Michael Egbejule of The Guardian; Comrade Elvis Omoregie, Assistant Secretary of NUJ; Comrade Osamuyi Ogbomo of ITV/Radio, among others.

Newsnigeriaonline.com.ng recalls that the journalist turned academician had worked in several media organisations in Lagos, Edo and Ogun State, and had covered many national and international sports events.

Among such event were Nigerian University Games (NUGA), Nigerian Private University Games (NPUGA); West African University Games (WAUG), FIFA U-17 World Cup and many others.

Before his adventure into academic in 2021, he was the South-West Bureau Chief of Daily Dispatch Online Newspaper.
