The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo has approved the suspension of the Attorney General of Edo State, Samson Osagie and the Chairman of Local government Commission Damian Lawani over alleged official misconduct and financial infractions.
This was made known in a Press Statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilo and made available to Newsmen in Benin City.
According to the statement, the Governor has ordered the setting up of an investigative committee to investigate allegations and make appropriate recommendations.
The Statement reads in part.
“The suspension of Hon. Damian Lawani and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Ministry of Justice, Samson Osagie became necessary to enable government carry out a thorough investigation into the allegations leveled against them. They are to remain suspended pending the conclusion of the investigation”.
I a similar development, the suspended Attorney general, Samson Osaigie has denied the allegations of financial infractions.
According to him, he was not confronted before the announcement of his suspension and as such , h is ready to defend his reputation to prove his innocence and clear his name and hard reputation which he has worked for over the years.
