The newly elected President of Edo SAWMILLER Association, Comrade Friday Aguakhian has dissolved all the zonal officers covering the 12 zones of the association across Edo State.
He made this pronouncement during the first association meeting held at Mission road, Benin City recently to chart the way forward for the association.
Comrade Friday Aguakhian who disclosed to the house that the tenure of the zonal officers who were elected into offices has long expired and as the State Executives have come to power through election, the zonal offices should also toll the same line, further said his administration is set to revive the image of the body in a good light before the public.
He however dissolved the zonal chairmen and appointed a one Man committee to oversee each zones and kick-start the process to conduct election.
“ Today is my first general meeting and as you can see, the turn out was very impressive. We have a task ahead of us and we promised to deliver the task given to us by the association.
“Before now, our attention has been drawn to some ugly trends that some people whom I suspect are not our members are collecting illegal money with tickets, and we thereby declare it illegal and warn them to desist from such acts or face the consequences .
He assured members that all the challenges they have been encountering in the Timber Industry would be addressed following the appropriate authorities, as he explained to the house that for the association to grow, they must be in partnership with the state government.
According to him, the association cannot fight government and expect to grow, he thereby advised members to channel all complains to his table as it would be addressed in due time.
Comrade Friday further appeal to members of the association to join hands with elected state officers to ensure great success is achieved to move the association to an enviable height.
Speaking also, the Vice President of SAWMILLER Association, Comrade Paul Obhiebo expressed his happiness to see members supporting the newly elected executives.
He however appeal to the members to join hands and move the association forward.
