The immediate past Chairman of State Information chapel, Comrade Nekpen Maureen Nwine has flagged off her campaign to contest for the position of Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State council.
The flag of ceremony which was well attended by members of the various Chapel that made up the Union was held at the conference hall of NUJ in Benin City.
Comrade Nekpen Maureen said her ambition to contest is to complement and collaborate with Comrade Festus Alenkhe ‘s leadership to build and strengthen the legacies of the Union.
” In as much as the place of experience in our noble Profession can not be de-emphasized as seniors becomes mentors , longer in-service or older does not necessarily mean better, rather, it should be about the quality of services rendered in past assignment and the ability to render even better services in the foreseeable future “.
She further stated that if elected as Vice Chairman , she will bridge the gap between the seniors and the upcoming Professionals.” I represent the innovative addition that is needed for our union to maintain it’s prideful place in the order of things “. She said.
She however unveiled her campaign council naming Evangelist Franca from the EBS chapel as the Campaign Director , while the

Director Of Welfare is Comrade Josephine Ewere and
Secretary – Comrade Eghosa Emily
Speaking at the flag off Campaign , Comrade Festus Alenkhe, the Chairman of Edo NUJ admonished the two Candidates running for the position of Vice Chairman to go about it Peacefully as God is the one that gives power.
He stressed that the position of the Vice Chairman is to complement the ideas and vision of the Chairman of the Union in ensuring smooth running of Union activities.
Comrade Festus further said that he is ready to work with who ever emerges as Vice Chairman as he has not endorsed anyone.
Speaking on the credibility of Nwine Maureen’ s personality, members of her Chapel took there turns to describe her as a humble and dependable person who have proven her worth in the position she had occupied at the Chapel level.
Presenting her acceptance speech, the campaign director of Maureeen Nwine, Evangelist Franca Ayewoh Osagie charged members of the Union to support and vote Maureen Nwine as the next Vice Chairman of NUJ to sustain the developmental strides of Comrade Festus Alenkhe ‘s second tenure.
She added that Maureen Nwine is humble and calm to work with the chairman to advance the development of the Union.
