The recently appointed Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Government, Mr Andrew Okungbowa has assured Journalists in the state of robust session as he settles down for the job.
Mr Andrew Okungbowa who stated this at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat said he will always interface with Journalists to ensure his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki administration finishes strong.
“I want to specially commend Edo Journalists for the support you have provided for this administration and also the publicity you gave to my appointment, you are indeed great Colleaques”.
” I am going to operate an open door policy where you can always have access to me incase of enquires or suggestions on how things should be. “
“His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki administration has achieve much and with your robust support, we will be able to present these projects one after the other to the good people of Edo State”
Speaking earlier ,the Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Mr. Crusoe Osaigie described the new Chief Press Secretary, Andrew Okungbowa as a capable hand with the right temperament to do the Job.
Mr. Crusoe Osaigie said he deemed it appropriate to officially introduce Mr. Andrew Okungbowa to Journalists in the State as the new CPS to Governor Godwin Obaseki and also to debunk the rumors making round that he has been sacked and retire to Nigeria Observer as a correspondent.
He emphasized that he still remains the Adviser on Media Projects to the Governor and his office is still in government house.
Mr. Crusoe further disclosed that the Governor, Godwin Obaseki has approved #500 Million monthly palliatives that will be disbursed for the poor of the poor in Edo State , while those whose gratuities have not been paid over the years will be paid adequately as a way to reduce the suffering of the people.
” We know that none of these measures will eradicate the suffering the people are going through but at least , it will reduce them. “.
Responding, the Edo State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Festus Alenkhe welcome tthe new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) , Mr. Andrew Okungbowa to Edo State and also assured him of cooperation from the Union expercially when his doors are open for Journalists.
The Chairman further imploy Mr. Andrew Okungbowa to always carry members of the Union along as that will create more room for a robust relationship.
“We are ready to cooperate with you and ensure the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki finishes strong”.
He further commended the Governor Godwin Obaseki for the approval of the Coaster Bus which according to him will be delivered soon.
He added that the free wifi connection at the NUJ premises will be a booster to the journalism Profession In the state.
