NAPTIN, BEDC Electricity Ltd collaborate to enhance Technical Staff Training

The Director General of the National Power Training Institute, Mr. Ahmed Bolaji Nagode, has announced that NAPTIN will collaborate with BEDC Electricity Plc on the training of its technical staff across the company’s franchise states.

Nagode made this assertion during a courtesy visit to the management of BEDC Electricity Plc in Edo state, Benin City recently.

According to the Director General, who spoke through the institute’s Director of Research Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation, Mr. Eguaoje Festus, the institute intends to collaborate with BEDC Electricity Plc in training the technical staff of the company in various areas such as lines, cable jointing, and electrical fittings.

Mr. Eguaoje highlighted the institute identified training gaps in the power sector, especially within the Discos, and deemed it necessary to collaborate with BEDC Electricity to enhance the skills of its personnel, particularly the technical staff, in line with international labor best practices.

Expressing gratitude to the management of BEDC Electricity, the Director General designate emphasized the opportunity for interaction with innovative and dedicated individuals who are striving to provide reliable and affordable electricity to customers across its distribution network

. Mr. Eguaoje expressed his confidence that the partnership would lead to fruitful collaborations in the future.

Responding to the visit, the company’s Head of Network, Engr. Kingsley Atseyinku, who represented the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Deolu Ijose, expressed delight at the prospect of partnering with NAPTIN on staff training.

Engr. Atseyinku affirmed the company’s commitment to providing reliable and affordable electricity to communities within its franchise and emphasized the importance of collaboration with industry partners like NAPTIN in achieving this goal.

Also speaking during the visit was the Head of Human Capital Management of the company, Dr. Obinna Obi, who expressed excitement about the prospect of working closely with NAPTIN to drive innovation and improve access to electricity.

Dr. Obi highlighted the potential for NAPTIN and BEDC Electricity Plc to jointly build a stronger and more resilient energy sector for the future, focusing on capacity development in technical and power distribution operations, safety, and other essential power operations in line with global best practices
