The Managing Director of Edo State Waste Management Board , Mr. Lucky Enebeta-Inegbenehi has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo for his visionary leadership in prioritizing environmental sustainability and Excellent performance in one year in office
Ambassador Inegbenehi stated this while addressing Newsmen in his office in Benin City .
Speaking on the achievement of Governor Monday Okpebholo in the Waste Management Board, he said that he has displayed commitment and passion in serving the good people of Edo State.
He explained further that the Governor approved and purchase equipments that enabled seamless cleaning of the state, prioritizing the health of every Citizen.
According to him, since the purchase of the equipments for evacuating refuse dumps and maintaining dump sites across the states, the zeal to work amongst staff have increased
“He approved and purchased three brand new pair-loaders, three brand new tippers, two tractors and two bulldozers. Before now ,our biggest challenge has been maintenance of dump sites and if you want to have a cleaner Edo, you must have a well managed dump site.”
” The bulldozers that came on board were game changer . Our dump sites are now being managed seamlessly and the pair-loaders are mainly for interventions. There are some areas in this state that have become dumpsite. People in those areas turned the areas into dumpsites. So we use the pair -loaders to maintain these dump sites and also to intervene in the markets.”
He emphasized that the agency through the support of the equipment that was purchased by the Governor had been able to evacuate 18 years waste in kara Market at aduwawa .
The Agency has provided roller-bins along with installed cameras in strategic locations within the City center to enable passers-by drop empty can bottles or satched water cans etc.
” There are two roller-bins with an iron cage in the identified locations. The green roller bin is for organic waste while the red roller bin is for hazardous and the cage is for empty water bottles, can bottles etc.
“The roller bins have been situated in five strategic locations .Cameras were mounted very close to the roller bin to ensure that everything that happens within that location is captured for further actions.”
“All these are between the period of one year. “We declared a free Edo,” what it means is that anywhere there is refuse dump, , it should be decongested.
This is the first time we are having this type of coordination. We have sweepers across the local government , All these are because of the visionary leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo'”
