There was Excitement amongst inmates at the Oko Correctional Centre on December 27, 2024, as a non governmental organization , Securing the Creative Goldmine in Youths Initiative successfully hosted its 4th edition of the Edutainment Rehabilitative Therapy program.
The program which was tagged “Inmate Got Talent.”was organized to appreciate inmates’ creative abilities and accelerate their rehabilitation.
The Executive Director of the organization, Mr. Edwin Asibor while addressing reminded them that they are students as their stay at the correctional center is temporary.
He emphasized that upon graduation and reintegration into society, they would become agents of change, contributing their positive potential to societal development.
Guest Pastor Mr. Evidence Osarenkhoe shared the biblical parable of the prodigal son, highlighting the importance of redemption and God’s acceptance. A Notary Public, Mr. Amaechi Nwazor Esq, stressed the importance of inmates engaging with their lawyers and seeking change when necessary.
The program featured live counseling sessions, entertainment, laughter, and competitions in dance, music, and comedy. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to two nominated officers of the facility by the participating inmates as well as the winners, demonstrating the inherent potential in every youth, regardless of their location.
