It was a moment of self expression, as who is who in the Association of Female Pharmacist in Nigeria troup out in grand style to participate in the 16th Biennial Conference of Association of Female Pharmacist in Being City.
The Conference was officially declared open by the Edo State First Lady, Betsy Obaseki who was represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor’, Mrs. Sandra Godwin Omobayo . She congratulated the leadership of the association for choosing Edo State to host the 2024 biennial conference.
She noted that the pivotal role of Pharmacist in the country can not be overemphasized as they are integral part of the wellbeing of Nigerians.
“The role of Female Pharmacist has become more pivotal in reshaping health care delivery in Edo and Nigeria as a whole.
Speaking on the theme, “Pharmacy: Making Health Care Impact in Tandem with 2030 Sustainable Development Goals” the Vice Chancellor if the University of Benin, City Prof Lillian Salami stressed that the 17 goals of the Sustainable Development goals adopted in 2015 is inline with the integral roles of the female pharmacist.
“Over the years , Pharmacist were primarily seen as the center of medicine but this expanded significantly to a fondermental health care”.
She further stressed that pharmacists are critical in managing supply chain and ensuring the availability of essential medicines, a fundamental aspect of Universal Health coverage.
The National Chairman of ALPs, Pharm. Scholastical Mnena Lan said that the nation is plagued with a high burden of health care needs and much of health care delivery is dependent on the quality of health care products and commodities.
She said that “the adoption of the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development opened new opportunities to work towards healthy outcomes for all through government and societiey/community approaches.”
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Dr Rametu Momodu said that the theme for this year’s conference underscores the pivotal role Lady pharmacists in shaping the future of health care while contributing to global sustainable goals.
According to her, the conference theme emphasises the essence of embracing change and innovation, recognising challenges as opportunities for growth.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of Awards to well deserving Nigerians and the exhibition of different pharmacutical products at the Auto center , event hall.
