The Labour Party, Edo State Chapter, under the leadership of the dynamic and visionary State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, was honoured yesterday by the surprise visit of the indefatigable National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, who graced a strategic meeting of party leaders and stakeholders in Edo South.
The National Chairman, who was en route from Edo Central after formally flagging off the Labour Party’s campaign for the August 16 Senatorial by-election, took time to engage with members in Edo South.
In his remarks, Barrister Abure lauded the steadfast dedication, discipline, and loyalty of Labour Party members across the state, particularly in the face of persistent but futile efforts by external actors to sow discord within the party.
He reaffirmed that Labour Party remains united, resilient, and steadfast in its mission to offer Nigerians a credible and people-focused alternative.
According to him, “The struggle for change has never been easy. Many have paid heavy prices — some with their freedom, others with their lives. But we remain steadfast. This is a movement whose time has come, and no amount of sabotage can derail it.”
Barrister Abure reiterated his personal commitment to providing firm and transparent leadership as the party forges ahead in preparation for the 2027 general elections, stressing that Labour Party is not only strong but fully positioned to emerge victorious at all levels, including the presidency.
Addressing concerns about the reported omission of the party’s candidate from the list for the upcoming by-election, the National Chairman urged members to disregard misleading rumours and remain focused. He assured all stakeholders that the situation is being promptly addressed with INEC and that a resolution will be achieved before the end of the week.
He further charged party candidates and campaign teams to intensify grassroots mobilization, deepen community engagement, and demonstrate the Labour Party’s readiness to deliver impactful representation that reflects the will of the people.
The Edo State Labour Party remains fully aligned with the national leadership’s vision and strategy, and we call on our supporters across Edo South, Edo Central, and Edo North to stand firm, united, and committed to the common goal of a new Nigeria.
