Residents of Igbuzo have appealed to Sheriff Oborevwori, to extend the ongoing streetlight installation along the Asaba–Igbuzo Road beyond Immigration Junction to the heart of the community.
The residents commended the governor for the visible infrastructure development recorded across Delta State since he assumed office, noting that several communities have benefited from road construction, urban renewal, and streetlight projects.
They particularly praised the installation of modern halogen streetlights from the Coker Flyover along the Asaba axis toward Igbuzo, describing the project as a significant development that has improved night travel and enhanced security along the route.
Motorists and residents said the illuminated stretch has transformed movement on the road, making it safer and easier to navigate at night.
According to them, the lighting has made it possible for drivers travelling from the Coker Bridge area toward Igbuzo to drive more comfortably with improved visibility.
However, community members expressed concern that the streetlight installation stopped at Immigration Junction, leaving the remaining stretch leading into Igbuzo without illumination.
The development, they said, has raised concerns among residents who believe the project should naturally extend into the town, especially as Igbuzo lies within the Asaba capital territory.
Residents also recalled that Oshimili North Local Government Area delivered one of the highest votes for Governor Oborevwori during the last general elections, a development they said demonstrated the strong support the governor enjoys in the area.
They therefore appealed to the governor—popularly referred to by supporters as “Mr. Project”—to direct that the lighting project be extended from Immigration Junction into Igbuzo town.
According to community members, completing the project would further improve security, encourage night-time economic activities, and ensure that the community fully benefits from the ongoing development initiatives within the capital territory.
They expressed optimism that the governor, known for his commitment to infrastructure and grassroots development, would consider their appeal and ensure the completion of the streetlight installation along the entire stretch of the road leading into Igbuzo.
