The newly appointed Managing Director of the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS), Dr. Innocent Ehiaguina Bello, on Monday held his inaugural meeting with staff of the agency, where he outlined his vision and strategic direction for the organization.
Dr. Bello assured staff that the signing and issuance of Certificates of Occupancy (CofO) would commence soon, signaling a renewed commitment to efficient land administration in Edo State.
He stated that his administration would prioritize staff welfare
while addressing the persistent challenges of land racketeering. He emphasized a firm commitment to professionalism, regular training and retraining, transparency, discipline, and improved service delivery across the agency.
Reiterating the stance of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration, Dr. Bello declared a zero-tolerance policy for illicit land activities.
He stressed the government’s determination to eliminate land grabbing, overlapping claims, and systemic racketeering that have long plagued the sector.
According to him, restoring “sanity and excellence” in land administration will be a key driver of success for the current administration. He noted that EDOGIS must evolve to meet the growing expectations of both the public and the state government.
The Managing Director also appreciated his predecessor and immediate past Acting MD, Dr. Tunde Eigbiremolen, along with the management team, for ensuring a smooth transition.
While issuing a stern warning against professional misconduct, negligence, and tardiness, Dr. Bello also announced incentives aimed at boosting staff morale.
These include rewards for dedication, punctuality, and commitment, as well as recognition for best-behaved and best-dressed staff.
He commended unit heads for demonstrating a willingness to foster a productive working relationship and urged them to sustain the momentum. He further assured staff that improved welfare packages and essential work tools would soon be provided to enhance efficiency.
Dr. Bello pledged to maintain an open-door policy and encouraged feedback and collaboration among staff to promote inclusivity and effective governance within the agency.
