Residents of Ebu Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have raised fresh concerns over what they described as decades of infrastructural neglect, particularly the deplorable state of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road, which has become virtually impassable and continues to hinder economic and social activities in the area.

Community leaders and residents lamented that despite Ebu’s contributions to the growth and development of Delta State, the community has remained largely abandoned, with critical infrastructure either non-existent or in a state of decay.

According to the people, the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road, which serves as a major access route linking the community to neighboring towns and commercial centers, has deteriorated to such an extent that movement has become increasingly difficult for motorists, traders, farmers, students, and workers who rely on the road daily.

The poor condition of the road, they said, has negatively affected economic activities, increased transportation costs, and discouraged investment in the area. Farmers are reportedly finding it difficult to transport their produce to markets, while residents face serious challenges accessing essential services.

Beyond the road infrastructure, residents also decried the lack of adequate healthcare facilities and functional educational institutions, describing Ebu as one of the communities bearing the brunt of systemic government neglect. Many residents expressed disappointment that successive administrations have failed to address the community’s pressing needs despite repeated appeals and promises.

Speaking on the situation, concerned community members urged the Delta State Government to prioritize the rehabilitation of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road and provide other basic amenities necessary for the development of the area.
They emphasized that Ebu deserves the same level of attention and developmental projects being executed in other parts of the state, stressing that equitable distribution of infrastructure remains essential for inclusive growth and improved living standards.

The residents appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and relevant government agencies to urgently intervene and end what they described as years of neglect and isolation.
According to them, the rehabilitation of the road would not only improve transportation and economic activities but also restore hope to the people and open up the community for greater development opportunities.
