Governor Monday Okpebholo has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), especially women and children affected by armed conflicts, insurgency, natural disasters, and other humanitarian crises.

The Governor gave the assurance through his representative during the presentation of relief materials to residents of the Home for the Needy Foundation, an IDP camp in Uhogua Community, Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Leading the state government’s delegation, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Apostle Sule Faraday, said the intervention was part of Governor Okpebholo’s sustained humanitarian efforts aimed at improving the living conditions of displaced and vulnerable persons across Edo State.
Faraday stated that the Governor remains committed to ensuring that displaced persons have access to basic necessities and adequate support.

He stressed that the administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of vulnerable groups, ensuring that no resident is left behind in the state’s development agenda.
The delegation presented food items, toiletries, and other essential relief materials to residents of the camp. The visit also featured prayers for the children and other occupants of the facility.
Speaking during the event, the camp’s Supervisor, Evelyn Omigie, expressed gratitude to the Edo State Government for its continued support to the foundation.
She noted that the assistance had eased some of the challenges facing the camp but appealed for additional support to meet its growing needs.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Sarah Gabriel described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that the relief materials would go a long way in supporting residents of the camp. She commended the state government for remembering displaced persons and extending compassion to those facing difficult circumstances.
The Home for the Needy Foundation provides shelter and care for displaced persons, particularly women and children.
Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the government’s intervention would inspire individuals, corporate organizations, and other philanthropists to partner in supporting displaced persons and other vulnerable groups across Edo State.
