In a significant boost to grassroots political mobilization and citizen engagement, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, on Tuesday commissioned the National Secretariat of the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB) in the Asokoro District of Abuja.

The First Lady was represented at the historic event by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who described the Tinubu Torch Bearers as a strategic vehicle for promoting the ideals and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

The commissioning ceremony, convened by the APC National Women Leader, Dr. Mary Alile-Idele, attracted political leaders, women groups, stakeholders, youth organizations, and supporters of the administration from across the federation.

Declaring the secretariat open, the Minister of Women Affairs charged members of the Tinubu Torch Bearers to intensify grassroots mobilization and public enlightenment efforts aimed at showcasing the achievements and impact of President Tinubu’s policies and programmes.

She described Nigerian women as the backbone of political mobilization and nation-building, urging them to continue championing initiatives that promote national development, economic growth, and social inclusion.

“As carriers of hope, it is our responsibility to ensure that the message of transformation reaches every community, ward, and local government area across Nigeria. Women remain the heartbeat of grassroots mobilization and critical partners in national development,” she stated.

The Minister further noted that the establishment of the National Secretariat would strengthen coordination, communication, and engagement among members of the movement nationwide.

The Tinubu Torch Bearers movement, established under the leadership of the APC National Women Leader, has rapidly expanded its structures across the 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards in the country, becoming one of the foremost grassroots support groups promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Mary Alile-Idele described the newly commissioned secretariat as a strategic operational hub that would coordinate and monitor activities of the movement across Nigeria.

According to her, the facility will house the Women Situation Room, an innovative monitoring centre designed to track developments and activities across Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units while strengthening grassroots participation in governance and political engagement.

Also speaking, the National Coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers (TTB), Dr. Ngozi Olejeme, expressed profound appreciation to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her unwavering commitment to women empowerment, social welfare, and national development.

Dr. Olejeme, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and former Board Chairman of Trustfund Pensions Plc, also commended Dr. Mary Alile-Idele for her visionary leadership and dedication to advancing the participation of women in politics.

She described the APC National Women Leader as “an Amazon of women in politics” whose leadership has continued to inspire women across the country.

The Vice President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide further applauded the developmental strides being recorded under the administration’s various initiatives and urged Nigerians to remain supportive of government policies aimed at strengthening the economy and improving the welfare of citizens.

She called on Nigerians to embrace unity, peace, and collective responsibility in support of ongoing efforts to build a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive nation.

Dr. Olejeme assured stakeholders that the Tinubu Torch Bearers would continue to serve as a formidable platform for grassroots mobilization and public engagement, adding that the group would work tirelessly to galvanize support for President Tinubu’s vision and leadership.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the “Do Know & Benefit” Digital Wristband Initiative, a technology-driven innovation designed to connect citizens directly with information on government programmes, opportunities, and interventions.

The initiative enables users to scan the wristband using their mobile devices and instantly access information about government policies and benefits, thereby bridging communication gaps between government and grassroots communities, including market women, farmers, artisans, and young people.

The commissioning ceremony witnessed a strong show of solidarity from APC leaders, government officials, women organizations, and supporters of the Renewed Hope Agenda, underscoring the growing role of women as drivers of political participation, community development, and national transformation.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment by stakeholders to deepen grassroots engagement and ensure that the benefits of government policies reach every corner of the country, reinforcing the Tinubu Torch Bearers’ mission of promoting hope, progress, and inclusive development for all Nigerians.
