Edo Governorship Race: PDP campaign will engage on issue based, not character assaination, Idouriyekenwen assures Edo People

The Director General of Asue Ighodalo , Osarodion Ogie Governorship Campaign Committee, Rt. Mathew Idouriyekenwen has assured Edo People that the Governorship campaign which will commence soon will focus on issue based discussion and not on character assaination.

Hon Mathew who expressed joy for leading a team that will market a credible and competent Governorship Candidate, Asue Ighodalo , Osarodion Ogie to Edo People,noted that the PDP Candidate is poised to tell the people how he intends to advance development to the next level in the State.

Hon. Mathew stated this during in an interactive session with Journalists at the Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists, in Benin City.

Hon. Mathew stressed that the Governorship campaign will not engage in Candidate’s private lives except when necessary.

He said Asue’ s vision for Edo State is to advance good governance from where Governor Godwin Obaseki will stop to a more equitable, accountable and transparent leadership .

“Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie are the right team to take Edo People to the next level of progress”

“We are committed to inform Edo People where the State was, where it is now and where it will be as soon as our Candidate win the Governorship election as we commence campaign”.

He said that the role of the traditional media in disseminating the party campaign message to the people can not be over emphasized.

Condemning fake news peddlers, he said, he has adopted thick skin not to respond to social media hawks who chun out unverified stories to cause disaffection in the society but to focus on the assignment at hand.

Responding, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Festus Alenkhe welcomed the Campaign Council to the Union house and noted that the NUJ State Secretariat remains apolitical and is opened for any of the political party to tell Edo People what they would do when they win the election.

He noted that all Journalists in the State have been advised to ensure they verify and balance their stories before puting them out for public consumption.

Speaking also, the Publicity Secretary of the Campaign Council, Reverend Olu Martins further stressed that Asue Ighodalo has the competence , credibility and capacity to move Edo State forward.
