The people of Otuo community in Owan East Local Government Area in EDO State, led by Mr. Michael Igaga today paid a Solidarity Visit to the Edo State Labour Party Chairman, Kelly Ogbaloi at the party’s secretariat on his recent political travail which led to his arrest.
They said they came to assure him that they as a community are solidly behind him on all he recently went through in the hands of his political enemies and what may likely come up in future in whatever form.
“Ogbaloi has never disappointed the community in terms of intellectual prowess and capacity to understand issues. He has a very rich history in the struggle to emancipate Nigeria people. He played prominent role in union activism. All he did then was not by accident .The joy we have is that he has been able to sustain the integrity and esteem that brought him to the position he is today. His identity and personality key into the objective of the Nigeria state”.
They said as the state Chairman of Labour Party, he reenforces the new hope of the party in making sure that round pegs are put in around holes for a better result. “We will continue to support him. We are also aware of the last issue where he was arrested. If you look at it very well. It was a political blackmail”.
They described Otuo community as the most populated area in Owan East, adding that their political strength cannot be taking for granted.
“They should redifine what is call politics. You do not need to carry gun and fight. This should be addressed nationally because politics is for development and let us work together with one spirit so that we can move forward”.
On his part Dr. (Barr.) Ovie Akhamie congratulated the labour party for the conduct of a successful primaries that produced Barr. Olumide Akpata as the party candidate. “I also congratulate our son, Kelly Ogbaloi, the state Chairman of Labour Party. Akpata has all it takes to deliver as governor of Edo State.
He appeal to Olumide Akpata to remember Owan East, especially Otuo community, adding that their community will give him all the needed support during the Governorship election.
In his response, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi said he was happy for the Solidarity Visit and the show of love by his community people.”Today I feel that I’m acceptable by my people and I belong to them. To me I feel happy when you see your people rising up to the occasion when something happen to you politically
Ogbaloi praised his Community people for taking pain to visit him at this critical period despite roads infrastructural decay and the present hardship in the country. He also thank them for having the desire to work for the party.
