Nursing Council upgrade IUTH to School of Nursing College……. as Bazuaye expresses gratitude to Ezemonye for spearheading process

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has approved the conversion of the School of Nursing Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital Okada to a College of Nursing Services.

The Chief Medical Director and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Igbinedion University Okada, Professor Godwin Nosakhare Bazuaye disclosed this while speaking to newsmen recently in Benin City the Edo State capital. 

Prof. Bazuaye noted that the good news of the upgrade of the institution’s School of Nursing to a College, was communicated officially to the hospital through a letter signed by the Director (Nursing) and Head of Department Standard and Accreditation, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Alh. Ndagi Alhassan on behalf of the Secretary General and Registrar of the council, Mr. Faruk Umar Abubakar. 

The Chief Medical Director Prof Godwin Bazuaye expressed his deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor Igbinedion University Okada Prof Lawrence Ikechukwu Ezemonye PhD, FAS, for spearheading the process that led to the successful conversion of the school to a college.

The CMD also expressed his appreciation to the Honourable Chancellor Igbinedion University Okada Sir Chief Dr Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion CON, CFR, The Deputy Chancellor, Chief Dr Lucky Igbinedion, the Board of Regents, the Governing Council as well as principal officers, Management and staff of the University and the Hospital for their support in actualizing the dream of upgrading the School of Nursing Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital Okada from a school to a College of Nursing Services.

With the conversion of the institution from a school to a college, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital College Nursing Services now has 3 schools; the School of Nursing, School of Midwifery and the School of Public Health.
