All roads lead to the prestigious Lagos Country Club this evening as the 6th edition of the annual Sportsville Special Recognition Award takes centre stage in Lagos.
The ceremony, to be chaired by renowned sports personality and founder of Brila Media, Dr Larry Izamoje, promises to be a thrilling gathering of key stakeholders in the sports sector.
A total of 20 awardees will be honoured across seven categories.
In the Icon Category, Kwame Arthur and Chuka Momah will be celebrated, while Itiako Ikpokpo and Wahid Oshodi will receive the Sports Personalities of the Year awards.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, will be honoured with the prestigious Sports Transformative Impact Award.
In the Creative and Innovative Category, Femi Bankole Alibay and Bambo Akani will be recognised, while Amadin Desmond Enabulele will receive the Visionary Leadership Award.
Also to be honoured are Christian Emeruwa, CAF Safety Officer and former basketball player, alongside Felix Akiga, both of whom will receive the Achievers Award.
In the Special recognition Category, the Attorney General of Nasarawa State, Isaac Danladi, will lead other distinguished awardees including renowned athletics announcer Akin Afolarin, Edo State Football Association Chairman Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, Toyin Aluko, and Fausat Dehinde Yekini. The initiator of “Let’s Do It Again,” Toyosi Oyetunji, will also be among the honourees.
In the facilities category, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium will receive the Best Facilities Award (government category), while Eagles Wings FC Sports Complex will be recognised in the private sector category.
The ceremony is scheduled to commence at 6:00 p.m., with the red carpet expected to begin at 5:30 p.m.
The Sportsville Special Recognition Award, established six years ago, continues to celebrate and reward individuals and institutions at the forefront of sports development in Nigeria.
