Residents and leaders of Ebu Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have lamented what they describe as decades of government neglect, calling on the Delta State Government to urgently address the community’s infrastructural challenges, particularly the construction of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road.

Ebu, an agrarian border community situated between Delta and Edo states, is said to have suffered years of isolation due to the deplorable condition of the road linking it to neighboring communities. According to community leaders, the situation has severely affected economic activities and hindered the movement of people and goods.

During a recent visit to the community by members of Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria ( ACNPN) Delta State Council led by its Chairman, Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom, residents expressed concern that politicians often remember Ebu only during election periods, while their needs are ignored after elections.

The community leaders appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Delta State Government to remember that Ebu remains an integral part of Oshimili North Local Government Area and deserves attention in terms of development and infrastructure.
They noted that the absence of a functional road network has crippled commercial activities in the area, forcing many residents to relocate and leaving the once-thriving community economically disadvantaged.

According to them, the construction of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road would not only reconnect the community to neighboring towns but also revive agriculture, boost trade, and improve the overall standard of living of the people.

The residents appeal to the state government to award and commence work on the road project without further delay, stressing that the people of Ebu have endured hardship and isolation for far too long.

They expressed hope that their appeal would receive urgent attention, describing the road project as a lifeline that would restore economic activities and bring renewed hope to the community.
