Residents of Ebu Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have renewed their passionate appeal to the Delta State Government to urgently rehabilitate the Ebu–Ezi-Ukala Road, describing the road as the commercial nerve centre and only major link connecting the community to its neighbouring towns.

The people lamented that the deplorable state of the road has left the community isolated for decades, causing untold hardship to residents, farmers, traders, students and motorists who depend on the route for their daily activities.

According to community leaders and residents, the Ebu–Ezi-Ukala Road serves as the only accessible route linking Ebu to neighbouring communities, including Ezi and Ukala, but has become practically impassable due to years of neglect and lack of government attention.

They explained that a journey from Ebu to Ezi, which ordinarily should take less than five minutes, now takes nearly two hours because of the terrible condition of the road.
The residents noted that the poor state of the road has negatively affected economic activities in the area, especially agriculture and local commerce, as transporting farm produce and goods has become increasingly difficult and expensive.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Idabor said Ebu has suffered serious neglect in terms of infrastructural development over the years and described the community as one abandoned by successive administrations.
The people, however, expressed confidence in the administration of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, commending him for what they described as proactive governance and visible infrastructural projects across the state in the last three years.

They appealed passionately to the governor to extend the dividends of democracy to Ebu Community by approving and flagging off the reconstruction of the Ebu–Ezi-Ukala Road.

We are begging Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to remember Ebu Community. Our people have suffered for too long because of this road. This is the only road connecting us to neighbouring communities and economic activities have continued to suffer because the road is no longer motorable, a community source said.

The residents expressed hope that the state government would urgently intervene to bring relief to the people and reconnect Ebu Community to the rest of the state through a functional road network.
