The Managing Director of the Edo State Waste Management Board, Amb. Dr. Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi, on Tuesday led the management and staff of the Board in a comprehensive cleanup and sensitization exercise at New Benin Market in Benin City.
Demonstrating a hands-on approach to service delivery, the Managing Director actively participated in and supervised the day’s sanitation activities, remaining on ground with the team from commencement to completion of the exercise.
The operation featured extensive waste evacuation, environmental enforcement, and public awareness campaigns aimed at promoting proper waste disposal practices and improving hygiene standards within the market.
During the exercise, Amb. Dr. Enehita-Inegbenehi engaged directly with traders, residents, and market users, educating them on the importance of environmental cleanliness and compliance with waste management regulations. He emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders.
The sensitization campaign also highlighted the health and environmental benefits of proper waste disposal, while warning against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in public spaces.
The all-day exercise forms part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to ensure a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment across Edo State.
