Aniocha Oshimili Elders Association Task FG, State, LGA on immediate completion of Ogwashiku Earth Dam

A non-Political group , Aniocha Oshimili Elders Association has called on the Federal, Delta State and Local Government Council to expedite action on the completion of Earth Dam at Ogwashi-Uku to ameliorate the acute water scarcity in the four local government area in Oshimili and Aniocha .

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the publicity Committee Chairman of IZU KEI , Uche Emma Aboh after the presentation of a recommended work carried out by a team of researchers who were assigned by the group to investigate and come up with a proposal of what the the People in Oshimili North, Oshimili South, Aniocha North and Aniocha South needs.

According to the group, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources through Benin Owina Basin Authority had started work at the Earth Dam before it was handed over to Delta State Government for completion but has since been abandoned by those in Authority.

The Group further stressed that due to non completion of the Earth Dam, the Oshimili People are suffering from acute scarcity of water and thereby needs urgent attention by the Government of the day.

They further called on the State Government to construct more roads across villages within Oshimili and Aniocha axis to enable Farmers to easily transport their farm produces to the Markets. The Team of researchers also pointed out that the Government should provide the necessary facilities to improve Primary Health Care and Education .

According to the Group, even as the Local Government Councils will be participating in the above listed functions, they should also focus on Building of modern Markets and creating an enabling environment that would boost employment and reduce insecurity.

On his part, the President of the Association, Sir, Clement Okonjo assured the Committee and members of the IZU KEJ that the report will be circulated to the Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko , Member representing Aniocha Oshimili Federal Constituency , Hon Charlse Okolie and the members representing the area in the State House of Assembly and others for collective action.

Those who served in the team of Researchers were Barr. Chief Linus, O Nwaozmudu, (Aniocha South) , Professor Chief Ike Enwemnwa, (Oshimili North) Onwu James Ajufo , and Prof. Chief Leroy Edozien (Oshimili South) as the report was coordinated by Mr. Patric Okenyi.

As part of the objectives of the Association peaceful coexistence of the Aniocha and Oshimili People and regular visit to the traditional rulers, Aniocha Oshimili Elders Association is a body functioning like the Onu Ika of Ika Federal Constituency and Ndokwa Nne Kwu of Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constitenc
