The Collective Action for Democratic Values and Environmental Issues (CAMDEVS) has appealed to Nigerian youths who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise, scheduled to end on April 17, 2026.
The call was contained in a statement signed by the organization’s management and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
CAMDEVS urged young people not to be deterred by concerns surrounding the signing of the amended Electoral Act by the President Ahmed Tinubu, which does not fully guarantee real-time transmission of election results.
The organization emphasized that disengagement from the democratic process would not yield the desired outcomes.
Instead, it encouraged youths to remain resilient and actively participate in shaping the nation’s leadership through the electoral process.
“I know many people think that withdrawing from the system will bring change, but true transformation can only be achieved through active participation,” the statement read.
CAMDEVS further stressed that the power to influence governance lies in the hands of citizens, particularly the youth population, who make up a significant percentage of Nigeria’s electorate.
