1.5 Million Edo Residents benefited from first phase of ECTS Free Transport Services, says MD ,Hauwa Dupe….as date extended to February,2024

The Managing Director/CEO of Edo City Transport Services, Hauwa Dupe Ohikhuai has revealed that the free transport services which was introduced by the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki in September 11th, this year has been further extended to February, 10, 2024 .

Applauding the Governor’s passion to serve Edo People , Mrs. Hauwa noted that the extension is to further alleviate the suffering of Edo People with the ongoing economic crisis in the Country.

Mrs. Hauwa stated this while responding to questions on the success recorded so far with the free transport service with some Newsmen in her office in Benin City .

‘The Governor is so concerned about the wellbeing of Edo People in such a period as this, where the Country is going through economic challenges that cut across race or religion. In fact, he is making everything possible to ensure, all Edo People and residents live above boards”

“The free transport services is one of the numerous ways he has shown that he is indeed caring about the wellbeing of Edo People and every Nigerian living in the State, when I paid visit to the terminal, I saw the expression of gratitude in the faces of the passengers and this is indeed encouraging. I am not surprised when the Governor announced the extension”

According to her, over 1,536,904 Edo residents have enjoyed the free transport Services within and outside the City Metropolis which had helped them to save money for feeding, house rent and school fees.

Reacting to the ongoing strike, Mrs. Dupe commended the State Leadership of NLC led by Olaye Odion for allowing all ECTS Buses to transport Edo People to their various destinations despite the ongoing strike ..

Speaking further, she stressed that hundreds of millions of naira has been saved by passengers who use their services.” Edo People within this period has saved good money, because if we have to put the amount of how much they used to pay to transport themselves within and inside the state, it runs into millions of thousands, these are being saved for the people and they can as well be deployed into other areas like school fees, rent and feeding. So His Excellency has done so well and I am very happy because Edo People appreciate his kind gesture a great deal.,in fact, they are very happy.

The reason why you see so much people queuing on our terminals is because the transport is free. Are you aware some people travel two times a week now., by 5am, they are already collecting their numbers with their Wife, and Children.
