UBTH CMD, Prof. Ize-Iyamu Visits St. Matthew’s Royal Academy, Commends Nursing Education Efforts

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, has paid a courtesy visit to Rev. Matthew Okpebholo, Founder and President of St. Matthew’s Royal Academy, Eidenu Irrua, in recognition of his contributions to healthcare development.

The visit, which took place on Friday, March 27, was aimed at strengthening collaboration between UBTH and the academy, particularly in the area of nursing education and training.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu, accompanied by members of the hospital’s management team, commended Rev. Okpebholo for his commitment to raising competent healthcare professionals through quality nursing education.

Addressing students of the institution, the UBTH CMD underscored the importance of the nursing profession, describing it as a noble and indispensable pillar of the healthcare system.

“Nursing is a noble profession, and you are indispensable in the health sector. As nursing students, you must strive to be excellent ambassadors of this institution. Let the name of this school be written in gold,” she stated.

She further highlighted the vital role nurses play in patient care and the overall effectiveness of healthcare delivery, urging the students to remain dedicated, disciplined, and focused in their academic pursuits.

The visit also provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore areas of partnership that would enhance training standards and improve healthcare services in Edo State and beyond.
