We must not relent,” Commission Boss says

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has congratulated Edo Queens Football Club following their emphatic 6-2 victory over Abia Angels in Matchday 3 of the ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Edo Queens produced a breathtaking attacking display in the encounter, with forward Chioma Moses grabbing a sensational four-goal haul, while Precious Oscar and Atume Doosuur added their names to the scoresheet to complete a dominant performance by the former champions.

Abia Angels found the net twice through Mariam Abdulrasheed and Blessing Saleh, but Edo Queens’ relentless pressure, creativity and clinical finishing ensured they emerged with a convincing victory.

Reacting to the result, Enabulele praised the players and technical crew for their commitment, discipline and fighting spirit, describing the performance as a reflection of the quality and resilience of the Edo Queens team.

“This is a remarkable performance from our queens, and we must never relent but keep winning. The confidence, teamwork and hunger displayed on the pitch show the character of this team. We are proud of you and encourage you to keep pushing until the ultimate goal is achieved,” Enabulele said.

The Edo Sports Commission Chairman also commended Chioma Moses for her outstanding individual performance, while acknowledging the collective effort of the entire squad in securing the important victory.

Meanwhile, Head Coach of Edo Queens, Coach Moses Aduku, said he was not surprised by the team’s performance, noting that the players executed the game plan effectively after studying Abia Angels’ previous matches.

Aduku admitted that Edo Queens faced a quality opponent but praised his players for their response and attacking efficiency.

“The beauty of the game is scoring, and that is exactly what we are doing. So far, we have scored six goals, and if it is possible to score more, we will do that. However, we must win all our remaining games,” he said.

The coach also appreciated the fans and supporters for their backing, assuring them that the team would continue to give their best.

“Expect more from us,” Aduku added.

Recall that in Matchday 2, Edo Queens recorded their first victory of the competition in commanding fashion, defeating FC Robo Queens 4-1 to reignite their title ambitions and announce their strong return to the race for the NWFL Premiership Super Six crown.

Edo Queens will shift focus to their next challenge as they take on host, Rivers Angels in their upcoming encounter.
