As the countdown to the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL26) season winds down, Bendel Insurance FC has sent a strong signal to rivals by emerging champions of the recently concluded pre-season tournament in Bayelsa State.
In a statement issued by his Media Officer, Mr. Edoko Wilson Edoko, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, congratulated the team for their outstanding performance while receiving the tournament trophy at his office in Benin City on Monday.
“This victory shows that we are thoroughly prepared for the 2025/2026 NPFL season. Now is the time to roll up our sleeves and focus on the task ahead,” Enabulele declared.
While receiving the trophy from the club’s management, he described it as “a beautiful gift on a Monday morning, a sign that the week will be fruitful and a clear indication that we are ready for the season ahead. We are not going into this campaign as underdogs, with the calibre of players we have recruited.”
He praised the coaching crew and players for their discipline, determination, and commitment.
Team Manager, Mr. Charles Ihimekpe, lauded the team’s dominance: “We played four matches, scored ten goals, and conceded none. By the grace of God, this is the beginning of what promises to be a great season for us.”
Head Coach, Mr. Greg Ikhenoba, also expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his consistent support and assured fans of a competitive and rewarding NPFL26 campaign.
With spirits high, Bendel Insurance will begin their NPFL26 season on August 22 with an away fixture against El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.
