BENIN CITY – The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Edo State Chapter, has condemned the abduction of school pupils and teachers in Oyo State, calling for their immediate and unconditional release.

In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Comrade Habiba Aniekan Sam, the association described the incident as a disturbing attack on the safety of children and the nation’s educational system.

NAWOJ Edo urged the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, and security agencies to intensify efforts and deploy all necessary resources to secure the safe rescue of the victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The association also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society groups, and other stakeholders to support ongoing efforts aimed at ensuring the victims’ safe return.
While sympathizing with the affected families,

NAWOJ further appealed to the abductors to release the pupils and teachers unharmed, stressing that no cause can justify subjecting innocent children and educators to trauma.

Reaffirming its commitment to child protection and safe learning environments, the association maintained that the abducted pupils and teachers must be freed without delay.
