BENIN — Edo Queens FC received commendation from the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, following the team’s impressive 2-1 victory over Rivers Angels in their final Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Match Day 18 fixture at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Enabulele praised the players, technical crew led by Coach Moses Aduku, and the management of the club for ending the regular season on a winning note and securing qualification for the prestigious NWFL Super 6 tournament scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt.
The Sports Commission boss particularly applauded Atume Doosuur for her outstanding performance throughout the season, noting that her prolific header which opened scoring against Rivers Angels, alongside her emergence as the league’s highest goal scorer with 12 goals, remains a remarkable achievement deserving of recognition.

He also commended Esther Inyang for scoring Edo Queens’ second goal, which eventually sealed victory for the Benin-based side.
According to Enabulele, Edo Queens have continued to demonstrate resilience, discipline, and the fighting spirit synonymous with Edo athletes, assuring the team of the Commission’s unwavering support as they prepare for the Super 6 showdown.
“This victory is another proud moment for Edo State sports. I congratulate Edo Queens for their determination, consistency, and impressive performance throughout the regular season,” Enabulele stated.
“Qualifying for the Super 6 is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the players, coaches, and management. I urge the team to remain focused and go all out to make Edo State proud in Port Harcourt,” he added.
Enabulele further expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete strongly for the NWFL title and bring more glory to Edo State.
Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, and Rivers Angels are the three clubs that secured qualification for the NWFL Super 6 from Group A.
Edo Queens finished second on the table with 36 points, while Rivers Angels placed third with 34 points, behind group leaders Bayelsa Queens, who topped the standings with 37 points.
